Established in June 1992, Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone is located at the confluence of two economic belts including the coast and the Yangtze River.As a core area of the urban-area development of Nanjing, it started from a county-run self-paid development, was approved as a provincial development zone in 1993, was approved by the National Scientific Commission as a high-tech industrial park in 1997.
Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone was approved by the State Council as a national economic and technical development zone on Nov. 11, 2010.Through construction and development of 20 years, it has become an opening demonstration zone of Jiangsu Province, a concentration zone of foreign capital utilization, a high-tech industrial congestion area and a pioneering area of scientific and technical innovation. It ranked the fifth in the comprehensive assessment of 125 development zones of various levels and types in Jiangsu Province in 2010.
Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone was approved as a central “innovation and venture base for overseas high-level talents” on Nov. 29, 2011.And it was designated as the National Smart Grid industry famous brands creation demonstration area in 2013.At the same time, it was awarded the national study patriotic base and the national new energy demonstration industry park in 2014.
Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone ranked 9th among the 219 national economic development zones at 2016. It was the only provincial Vice-director Unit of the Collaborative Development Alliance of the National Economic Development Zone in the Yangtze River Economic Belt at 2017.
Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone ranked 7th among the 219 national economic development zones at 2019. And it was China's top 10 industrial parks in international business environment at 2020.
Jiangning Development Zone is located on the site where the coastal economic development belt and the Yangtze River economic development belt converge within the urban circle of Nanjing, a central city in East China, merely seven kilometers away from the downtown Nanjing. It is the core target zone for the external development of the main urban aera of Nanjing. Situated at North Latitude 31 degree 6'15" and East Longitude 118 degree 7'49", this development zone belongs to the subtropical humid climate characterized by warmness, agreeableness, distinct four seasons, plentiful rainfall, with no record of typhoon or earthquake disasters in history.
