Located on the “golden axle” consisting of Nanjing South Station of Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway and Nanjing Lukou International Airport, Jiangning Development Zone integrates five transportation advantages including airport, ports, highways, railways and subways.

 

Aviation: Nanjing Lukou International Airport can meet the annual passenger capacity of 70 million person times, and annual cargo transport capacity of 1.6 million tons. Its current flights lead to 54 domestic cities and 12 overseas cities. Jiangning Development Zone is 18 km away from Lukou International Airport.
Port: Xinshengwei Port has a foreign-trade cargo handling capacity of 10 million tons/year, a container handling capacity of 200 thousand tons/year. It has extended its influence to 78 countries and regions worldwide. It is 30 km away from Jiangning Development Zone. By relying on its Yangtze River shoreline of 21.5 km, the riverside port has, in its first phase, built up 12 ten-thousand-ton berths wharfs, 35 km away from Jiangning Development Zone.
Highways: Thirteen first-class highways leading to various parts of China converge here. Such expressways as Shanghai-Nanjing, Nanjing-Hangzhou, Nanjing-Ma’anshan and Raocheng cross this zone. A high-class transportation system (eight horizontal and five vertical lines) has come into being in this zone.
Railways: Nanjing is a comprehensive railway hub connecting central China, eastern China and northern China. Such important railway trunks as Beijing-Shanghai, Nanjing-Hangzhou, Nanjing-Anqing and Nanjing-Xi’an converge here. Nanjing South Station, one of the five departure stations of Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway, has been built up and put into operation, only 2 km away from Jiangning Development Zone.
Subways: The southern extension of Nanjing Subway No.1 Line (completed), the No.3 and No.6 Subway Line (under construction), and the No.5 and No.17 Subway Line (planned) pass through this zone.

Since its establishment, Jiangning Development Zone has built a beautiful and comfortable ecological environment with building a garden-style and ecological-type new urban area as its objective.

On the one hand, it has vigorously introduced a batch of projects into this zone with a large scale of investment, a high scientific and technological content, a high product grade and a satisfactory economic benefit while implementing a rigid control over their accession at the same time.

On the other hand, by carrying out the separation of the flows of rain water and sewage, it has built rain water draining pipes with a total length of 314.6 kilometers and sewage draining pipelines with a total length of 314.6 kilometers; in order to dispose of sewage and garbage, it has built a sewage disposing plant with a daily handling capacity of 80,000 metric tons and a garbage disposing plant with a daily garbage handling capacity of 60 metric tons; in addition, it has tried to remove the sources of pollution to make this development zone a genuine ecological development zone.

The development has passed the authentication of ISO14001 and ISO9000 long before, with a greening rate of 47%, a green land area of more than 5.7 million square meters and a road greenbelt length of more than 200 kilometers. The environmental construction of this development zone ranked on the top of the list of the various kinds of development zones throughout the province in 2009.

Jiangning Development Zone has a quiet and elegant humanistic environment. It has Niushou Mountain with a reputation far and near and a long history, the Two Tombs of Southern Tang Dynasty, the Tomb of Zheng He, the former site of General Yue Fei resisting the Jin soldiers and other numerous places of interest, thus endowing the development zone with a profound historical and humanistic atmosphere.
